All quiet on the Northern Front – 2018 Blog Update
Since my house move to North of the city I have been quiet, for various reasons. Christmas tends to get in the way, unpacking boxes and building furniture too. There was also a relative dearth of places I had the appetite to visit. But no more.
Over the last couple of weeks I have visited a few new places, some new to Nottingham and some just new to me. The likes of Coco Tang’s new Vietnamese café and Sushimania’s opening on Angel Row will feature.
In additional I recently ventured to London to eat at Core by Claire Smyth who previously held 3 Michelin stars at Gordon Ramsey’s eponymous London restaurant. A tasting menu always takes a while but I will get there! Some stunning food.
I am also off to Berlin next week so a overview of my visit will appear shortly afterwards. In particular a visit to the 2 Michelin stars of Tim Raue. I had heard of his restaurant before but interest was piqued on seeing an episode featuring him on Chef’s Table on Netflix. His rise from member of notorious Berlin street gang (“The 36 boys” I believe) to Japanese influenced fine dining aficionado is a remarkable story.
